You learn more from the questions someone asks than the answers they give.

Answers can be borrowed, while questions reveal where someone’s attention actually lives. What a person asks shows what they think is uncertain, what they care enough to want to know, and how carefully they were listening. That is a far better portrait than anything they would say about themselves.
Pay attention to the questions in your next conversation, including your own. Notice whether yours are genuine or whether they are statements with a hook on the end. Asking one real question and then waiting will teach you more about a person than an hour of their opinions.
