Jealousy is a rude little GPS. Ignore the tone, write down the destination.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Envy is unpleasant and informative at once. It shows up precisely where you want something and have not admitted it, which makes it one of the more accurate signals you get, delivered in the worst possible voice. Most people try to suppress the feeling and lose the information with it.
Next time it arrives, ask what exactly you are envying. Not the person, the specific thing, the freedom, the skill, the way they get to spend their afternoons. Write it down as a plain sentence. Then look at whether any part of it is available to you, because often a smaller version is.
What does your jealousy keep pointing you toward?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
