Whatever you stare at longest wins the election in your head.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Attention is a vote, and it gets counted whether or not you meant to cast it. What you look at most becomes what feels most true, most common, most urgent, regardless of how much of your life it actually occupies. This is how a small worry examined for hours ends up governing a whole week.
Look at where your hours of attention went yesterday rather than where you believe your priorities are. If something unworthy is winning, you do not have to argue it down. Mostly you have to give the time to something else and let the count change.
What gets most of your looking hours each week?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
