Finishing an entire book now counts as a small rebellion. Be a rebel.

Staying with one long thing to the end has become unusual, which says more about the surroundings than about anyone’s attention. Everything is built to be interruptible, so completing something that asks for hours of continuous attention is a genuine achievement rather than a baseline. It also does something to your thinking that shorter material cannot.
Pick one book and finish it, even slowly, even twenty minutes at a time. Keep it somewhere visible and treat the finishing as the point rather than the speed. The satisfaction at the end is bigger than it has any right to be, and that is worth knowing about yourself.
