Drive nowhere in particular with the windows down. Sometimes the answer’s somewhere past the second stoplight.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Movement without a destination does something that sitting and thinking does not. Part of your attention goes to the road, which occupies the anxious part of the mind and lets the rest work loose. Answers tend to arrive sideways in that state, usually a while after you stopped trying to find them.
Give yourself an hour with no arrival time this week. Driving, walking, cycling, whatever you have. Do not aim it at solving anything, because the aiming is what blocks it. Just go, and stay out past the point where you would normally turn back.
Where do you go when you need to think alone?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
