Forgiving the version of you who messed up doesn’t need an audience. It’s a private meeting with one attendee.

REFLECTION
Letting yourself off for something old does not require anyone else to sign it. There is a habit of waiting to be forgiven by the person involved, or of holding the mistake open because releasing it privately feels like cheating. It is not cheating, and it is the only version available for most of what you carry.
Pick one thing you have kept open longer than it deserves. Say what happened, plainly, and what you would do differently now. Then say you are finished with it. No ceremony is required, and nobody else needs to be present for it to hold.
Which older version of you still waits to be forgiven?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
