A person is not required to be internally consistent, and the demand that you pick a lane comes from other people’s need for a shorter description. Wanting quiet and wanting adventure are not in conflict, they simply want different days. Resolving every contradiction usually means amputating something real.

Notice where you edit yourself to stay consistent with an earlier version. Let two of your opposing tastes exist in the same week with no explanation offered. The tension between them is often where the more interesting parts of you live.
