A journal is a conversation with the only person who’s heard every one of your thoughts.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Writing to yourself is a strange sort of conversation, because the reader already knows everything and still needs it spelled out. Something shifts when a thought moves from vague pressure to a sentence: it becomes finite, it can be disagreed with, it stops circling. The page is not the point, the transfer is.
Write a page tonight with no intention of keeping it or reading it again. Do not aim at insight or good sentences. The relief comes from having said it somewhere other than the inside of your own head, where it was doing laps.
What would you write if nobody would ever read it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
