Age turns certain possessions into clutter and certain conversations into treasure.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
The accumulation of things becomes a burden while the accumulation of conversations does not. Objects need storing, insuring, moving, and eventually disposing of, and they stop delivering much after the first month. Exchanges with people you love keep returning value indefinitely and take up no space. The revaluation is not moral; it is what happens once you have lived with both long enough.
Spend a little of what you would have spent on things on time with people instead. And if a possession has been sitting unused for a year, notice what it is costing you in space and attention. Most of it can go.
Which conversation would you choose over anything you own?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
