Know where the exits are, in theaters, in deals, in friendships that might go sideways.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Knowing the way out costs nothing and changes how you behave while you are in. It takes the panic out of a bad situation, because the question becomes when to leave rather than whether leaving is even possible. People with no exit in mind tend to stay too long and then leave badly.
When you enter anything significant, spend a minute working out how you would get back out. In a deal, in a job, in an arrangement with other people. You will rarely need it, and knowing it changes how steady you are throughout.
Which friendship would you not know how to leave?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
