Scale and significance are different measurements. A life spent well inside one town affects a finite number of people completely, which is not a smaller thing than affecting a great many people faintly. Reach is easy to count, and it is the wrong number to be counting.

Look at who is actually within your reach: the people you see weekly, the ones who ask you things, the ones who would notice if you were gone. Being genuinely useful to them is available today and needs no audience. Let that be enough, because it is.
