Nobody reads your GPA at your funeral. They talk about whether you showed up.

Measures that dominate a few years of your life turn out to be almost invisible from any distance. A number that decides a great deal right now decides nothing about how people describe you later. What gets described instead is presence, whether you were there for people when it cost you something.

Keep doing the work, since results still open doors. Just do not let them crowd the other thing out entirely. Turn up for one person this week when it is inconvenient, and treat that as equally serious.
