A shelf you built will outlast a thousand posts about wanting to build something.

Talking about a project can feel a great deal like working on it, and it produces something that circulates, which makes the illusion stronger. Nothing exists at the end of it though. A physical object made badly still exists, still holds things, and can be made better the next time.

Build the first bad version of whatever you keep describing. Do not document it while you work. Then let the finished thing be the whole statement, since an object in a room argues better than any amount of explaining.
