Time humbles everybody eventually. Better to stay humble on your own.

Every run of good form ends, and when it does, the correction arrives without asking how you would like to receive it. Staying modest while things are going well is not self-deprecation. It is choosing the gentler version of a lesson that is coming either way, and keeping your footing when it lands.

Watch for the moment you start explaining your success as though it were entirely your doing. Name one piece of luck, or one person who made it possible, out loud, to someone. The habit costs nothing now and saves a great deal later.
