Art is time travel. Somebody painted a feeling 300 years ago and you still feel it today.

Feelings turn out to be far more durable than the circumstances that produced them. Someone long dead sat with grief or longing or joy, found a shape for it, and that shape still works on a stranger who knows nothing about their life. The interior parts of being a person have barely changed, however much everything around them has.
When something old moves you, sit with it a second longer instead of scrolling past. And consider making something yourself, however plain, since that is how anyone reaches forward. Someone later may need the exact thing you thought only you felt.
Which old song or painting still reaches you directly?
