You said yes on Monday when you were hyped. Keeping it on Friday when you’re tired is the actual loyalty.

LEADERSHIP
Enthusiasm makes promises that a tired person has to keep. The version of you who agreed had energy and distance from the cost, and the version who has to turn up has neither, which is why the commitment feels different by the end of the week. Reliability is basically a negotiation between those two people.
Make fewer commitments while excited, and treat the ones you make as debts rather than intentions. When Friday arrives and you do not feel like it, go anyway and keep it short if you need to. Doing that a few times teaches people, and yourself, that your yes means something.
Which commitment feels heavier now than when you made it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
