You can be deeply self-aware and still use self-awareness to explain behavior instead of changing it.

REFLECTION
Insight can become a very sophisticated way of standing still. Knowing exactly why you avoid conflict, why you leave when things get close, why you cannot finish anything, provides a satisfying account and can substitute entirely for changing it. The explanation gets offered in advance, which pre-empts the criticism and preserves the behavior.
Check whether your self-knowledge has ever produced a different action. If the same understanding has been in place for years with no change downstream, treat it as complete and stop analyzing. Pick one small behavior and do it differently, without waiting for further insight.
Which habit have you described accurately for years without altering it?
