Rest refills you. Avoidance drains you slowly while pretending to be rest. Learn the taste of each.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Each of them looks like stopping, and only one gives anything back. The tell is not the activity but how you feel an hour after it ends: real rest leaves you slightly restored, and the other leaves the original thing still waiting plus a low hum of time you cannot account for. The two can look completely identical from the outside.

Start checking afterward rather than deciding in advance. If an hour of something leaves you heavier, it was probably the second kind. That does not make you bad at resting. It means something is waiting to be looked at directly.
