Own the mistake. Don’t move into it and start paying rent.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Responsibility has a shape and a size, and guilt tends to expand past both. Owning something means naming it, repairing what you can, and changing whatever led to it. Everything after that is not accountability any more, only discomfort with nowhere to go, and it often looks like humility while quietly making the situation about you.
Decide what the repair actually is and do it. Then set an end to the punishment, even arbitrarily, because no natural stopping point is built in. If the thought returns once the work is done, it is a habit rather than a debt.
Which mistake have you been living inside for too long?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
