Resilience isn’t bouncing like a ball. It’s healing like skin: slow, with a mark, but closed.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
The bouncing image sets an impossible standard, since it implies returning to exactly the shape you were, instantly and without evidence. Healing is the better comparison. It takes time you cannot shorten, it usually leaves something visible, and what you end up with is a surface that holds rather than one that was never broken. Closed is the goal, not unmarked.
Stop checking whether you are back to normal and check whether you are functioning. Eating, sleeping, turning up, able to laugh at something. If those are returning slowly while the mark stays, that is exactly what recovery looks like from the inside.
What healed in you slowly and left a mark?
