The ride is eight seconds. The training to last eight seconds takes years. Short moments hide long work.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

What gets seen is almost never proportional to what it cost. A few seconds of performance sits on top of years of preparation nobody watched, which makes the whole thing look either easy or lucky from outside. That mismatch runs in both directions. When you watch somebody do something effortlessly, you are seeing the eight seconds, and the years happened somewhere you were not.

When something looks easy for somebody else this week, assume there is a decade behind it you cannot see. And count your own hidden hours honestly, since nobody else will ever know how many there were.
