When the ball is in your hands at the end, the crowd gets loud and the rim stays the same size.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Pressure changes the volume, not the task. The rim is the same height it was in an empty gym in August, and your shot does not know what is at stake unless you tell it. Most late misses come from doing something different because the moment feels different, not from the moment being harder.

Before your next close finish, pick one cue and nothing else: feet, elbow, follow through, breathe out. Say it to yourself as you line up. If your hands are shaking, let them shake, and run the same routine you have already run ten thousand times at practice.
