The struggle gets a vote on how you feel. It doesn’t get a vote on what you do next.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
How you feel is not entirely up for negotiation, and pretending otherwise just adds guilt to a bad week. What is still yours is the next action, which does not have to match the mood it gets carried out in. Most people wait for the feeling to change before they move, and the order usually works the other way round.
Pick one thing you would do today if you felt fine, and do it anyway at half quality. Let the mood be whatever it is while you do it. If everything on the list needs you to feel better first, the list needs smaller items rather than more motivation.
What will you still do today that your mood disagrees with?
