Your coach can’t run the drill for you. Your friend can’t feel your heartbreak for you. Some roads are single lane.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Help has a limit built into it. Other people can teach you, drive you there, sit with you at midnight, and still there are experiences only the person inside them can go through. That is not loneliness exactly, it is just the shape of certain things. Knowing which parts are yours alone stops you waiting for a rescue that was never available.

Sort what is in front of you into two piles: the parts someone can genuinely help with, and the parts you have to walk yourself. Ask for the first pile out loud. For the second, decide the next step and take it without waiting to feel accompanied.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What part of this can nobody else do in your place?
