If you’re the friend everyone leans on, find someone you can lean on too. Load-bearing walls need foundations.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being the dependable one is a real role with a cost nobody sees, because people bring you their weight and assume you have somewhere to put it. Support has to come from somewhere or the structure starts to move. That is not a character flaw, just how load works. Having nobody above you is the risk, not the caring itself.

Think of one person you could tell something to this week, and tell them one true thing rather than the summary you usually give. It does not have to be the hardest thing. Being on the other side of it once is how you find out whether the door opens.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

If everyone leans on you, who do you get to lean on?
