A family move, a new stepparent, a new baby: change can be good and still knock you sideways for a while.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Good news and upheaval are not opposites, and they often arrive in the same envelope. Your routines, your room and your place in the house all get rearranged, and the body registers that as loss even when you are genuinely glad about the cause. Being thrown by something you wanted is not ingratitude. It is adjustment, which takes a while and says nothing about approval.
Give yourself a season rather than a week, and keep two or three things exactly as they were: the same sport, the same bedtime, the same friend. If somebody asks how you are about it, you can say both things at once.
Which good change still knocked you sideways longer than expected?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
