The hill isn’t personal. It’s just the course. So is most of what’s making your week hard.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Difficulty tends to feel aimed, as though it had been placed there for you specifically and at the worst possible moment. Usually it is just part of the route, and everybody taking this route meets it. Reading it as persecution adds an argument on top of the climb, and the argument is heavier than the hill. Hard and unfair are different things.
When something feels targeted, check whether other people are dealing with it too, which they usually are. Then treat it as terrain: shorten your stride, lower your expectation of pace, and keep going. Save your anger for what is actually aimed at you.
What are you taking personally that is just the terrain?
