The first time you help a younger kid with something you struggled with, the struggle starts to make sense.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

While you are inside a difficulty, it is mostly just loss. Later, teaching somebody through the same thing turns that time into equipment: you know where the confusion sits, which explanation fails, what it feels like from the inside. None of that is available to a person who found it easy. The struggle does not become worth it exactly, but it does become useful.

Find the thing you had the hardest time with and offer help to somebody currently in it. A sibling, a teammate, a younger student. Say the part you wish somebody had said to you.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What old difficulty of yours could you now help someone through?
