A business is only as good as how it treats the people working the closing shift.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Closing is the hour when nobody is watching: no customers to impress, usually no manager, no credit available for doing it well. What a place does with that hour says what it genuinely thinks of the people who work there, because none of it is for show. Anybody can be generous during the lunch rush when it is visible. The real policy lives at eleven at night.

If you have a job, notice who keeps getting stuck closing and whether they get paid for the full time. If you ever run anything, start your thinking at that end of the day.
