Some nights ambition just looks like finishing the application instead of watching one more video.

Most of the time it does not feel like ambition at all. There is no stirring version available on a Tuesday night, only one more video or the form, and the choice is small, unheroic and mostly about momentum. Those tiny decisions are where the direction of a year gets set, which is exactly why they slip past unnoticed. Large intentions get settled in boring moments.

So make the small choice easier rather than leaning on willpower. Put the form on the desk before you sit down, set a stop time for the videos, do twenty minutes instead of the whole thing. Finished is a much lower bar than good.
