Luck is easiest to dismiss when it happens to somebody else.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Your own good fortune tends to be invisible from inside. From where you stand you see effort and difficulty and the choices you made, because that is the part you lived. Watching someone else, you see only the result, so luck becomes the obvious explanation for them and the hardest one to accept for yourself.
Try the reversal deliberately. Name one advantage you had that you did not earn, and one thing another person clearly worked for that you had been discounting. It is a small correction, and it changes a lot.
Whose good fortune have you explained away?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
