Being well-liked at work is nice. Being trusted with the keys to open the store is the real promotion.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
Popularity and trust get earned differently and rewarded differently. Being liked makes shifts pleasant; being trusted brings responsibility, hours, references and eventually money, and it is built out of boring reliability rather than charm. Plenty of well-liked people are never handed anything important to hold. The two can sit together perfectly well and only one of them moves you forward.
Look at what you have been made responsible for and ask whether it has grown at all. If not, start doing one thing so consistently that nobody checks it. Reliability on something small is how people decide about something large.
Has anyone handed you keys, a password or a code yet?
