Your mood will pass. Choices made from it can stick around a lot longer.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Moods are weather and they are extremely convincing while they last. What you feel at two in the morning or ten minutes into an argument seems permanent and obviously true, and then it is gone by Tuesday, except for whatever you did about it. The text, the quitting, the purchase and the message to the group outlast the feeling.

Give anything irreversible a delay: a night for a message, a week for a decision. Keep a rule that you do not quit things or end things after ten at night. If it still makes sense once the mood has moved on, it was probably a real one.
