Your major is a door, not a cell. Plenty of people end up working outside it.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Choosing a field of study feels permanent at eighteen because the forms make it sound permanent. What it actually hands you is a set of skills and a few people who have seen your work, and both of those travel. Plenty of careers are built sideways from where somebody started, and almost nobody asks to see the transcript later.

If you are picking or second-guessing a subject, list the three things you would learn to do rather than the job title at the end. Then ask one adult you know what their degree was actually in. The answer usually loosens the grip a little.
