The longer you wait to have a hard conversation, the more interest it charges.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Difficult conversations grow while you avoid them. What began as a small correction collects examples, resentment on both sides, and a story each person has told themselves, so the exchange you eventually have is longer, hotter and about far more than the original thing. Waiting does not preserve the problem. It enlarges it.
Take the one you have been carrying and have it this week, in person if you can, opening with the specific thing rather than the pattern. Keep your part to a few sentences and let them talk. Early versions are small, which is the whole advantage.
How much harder has your postponed conversation already become?
