Advantages arrive with obligations attached, and the obligations are never in the pitch. More money means more to manage and more people with a claim on it. A bigger role means more of your attention belongs to other people. Skill means being asked. The upside is advertised and the maintenance is discovered later.

When something good is on offer, ask what it will require from you every week once the excitement wears off. Decide whether you want that ongoing version, not just the moment of getting it.
