Every opportunity you say yes to is also a responsibility you just signed up for.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Opportunities arrive looking like gifts and land as obligations, and both of those are true. The team, the role, the project: each comes with hours you have now committed and people who will be relying on you. Saying yes is easy and pleasant, and the saying yes is not the part that costs anything. The weeks afterward are.

Before you accept the next thing, work out what it takes weekly and where those hours come from, naming what gets dropped. If nothing can be dropped, that is a no, and a clear no now is kinder than a quiet withdrawal in March.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Did you count the work before accepting that opportunity?
