Starting is exciting. Choosing to keep going on a dull Wednesday is the part that counts.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Beginnings come with their own energy, and it is genuinely useful right up until it runs out. What determines whether anything happens is the ordinary middle: the session you do when it has stopped being interesting, nobody is watching and no progress is visible. That is not a test of character so much as the actual work.
Decide now what the minimum version looks like on a bad day, and make it small enough to be embarrassing: ten minutes, one page, one set. Do that rather than nothing when the enthusiasm has gone. Keep a mark of the days you showed up.
What have you started enthusiastically and abandoned by midweek?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
