Every lifestyle spends resources other lifestyles would use differently.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Every way of living spends the same finite resources on a different arrangement, and no arrangement gets everything. A life with more travel has less rootedness. A life with more security has less range. Comparing your life to someone else’s usually means comparing what they bought against what you paid for.
When you envy an arrangement, look at what it costs and ask whether you would pay that. Sometimes yes, and that is worth acting on. Often the answer is no, and the envy quietly ends.
What does your way of living cost that you rarely count?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
