“It’s easy” makes people who don’t get it feel worse. Say “here’s how” instead.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Calling something easy describes your own experience and leaves the listener one conclusion about why they are struggling. It also shuts the conversation, since asking for help now means admitting you cannot manage the easy thing. None of that is intended, it is simply what the word does on arrival. A method is useful where a verdict is not.
When somebody is stuck, skip the reassurance and show them the steps you actually take, including the part you still get wrong. Say what confused you when you were learning. Then let them try it while you are standing there.
Who felt stupid because you called something simple?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
