The coworker who leaves a clear note for the next shift is doing kindness in writing.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Shift work hands a job to somebody you may never meet, and whatever you leave out they will find the hard way, usually in front of a customer. A note is the only way to be good to a person who is not there. It costs two minutes when you are tired and want to go, which is what makes it generous. Nobody watches you do it and everybody feels it.

Before you clock out, write what broke, what is running low and what is unfinished. Use names and numbers instead of roughly. Then notice who else does it, and tell them you noticed.
