A vague post about “some people” isn’t communication. It’s a riddle with a target.

Posting about somebody without naming them does two contradictory things at once. It delivers the hit publicly while letting you claim it was not about anybody, and the target almost always knows. Everyone else gets pulled in as an audience, guessing who is meant, which is part of the appeal. What it never does is address the problem, since the one person who could answer has no way in.

If you are tempted, write the post and then send its contents to the person instead. If you cannot, that is worth knowing about the situation. And when you see one, do not go hunting for the target.
