Mention a coworker’s good work to your manager when they’re not around. It tends to come back around.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Praise given behind someone’s back carries weight precisely because they did not ask for it and cannot hear it. It tells your manager something about the coworker and something about you: that you notice good work and are not worried about sharing credit. Over time that reputation does more for you than any amount of self-promotion.
Think of one person at your job who did something well this week and say it to whoever runs the schedule. Keep it specific, like who covered what or who caught a mistake. Do not mention it to the person afterwards.
Whose good work could you praise where it counts most?
