Forgiving error should not require ignoring repeated danger.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Forgiving a person and continuing to expose yourself to a repeated danger are different decisions. You can genuinely release resentment, wish someone well, and still decline to be in the position where they can hurt you again. Confusing the two turns forgiveness into an obligation to be harmed.

If you are working toward forgiving someone, decide separately what access they have to your life. The internal work is yours. The arrangements are also yours, and they do not have to match.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which pattern have you forgiven so often it stopped being accidental?
