Introducing your friend group to someone they’ve been leaving out takes social courage. It’s worth spending.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Groups leave people out by drift far more often than by decision. Nobody voted; a pattern just set, and patterns are strong because changing one requires somebody to spend their own standing. When you bring the left-out person in, you are vouching for them with your own credit, which is both why it works and why it feels risky.

Bring them to something ordinary rather than something special. A walk home, a table at lunch, the group chat. Say one real thing you like about them so the others have a reason rather than an instruction.
