Letting someone teach you a skill you’re bad at, in front of others, is a risk to your pride and a gift to your future.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Being taught in front of people means being briefly, visibly incompetent while somebody more capable corrects you. Most people avoid that by learning alone at a quarter of the speed, or by quietly never learning the thing at all and developing a story about not being interested. Pride is not free. It gets paid in years.
Take one public lesson this week at something you are bad at. Ask the question in front of the group rather than catching the person afterwards, and let the first few attempts be as poor as they are.
Which skill are you bad at and too proud to learn?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
