Volunteering to lead the project means your name is on the result. Scary, and exactly how people learn to lead.

Leading means trading a comfortable spot, where the result belongs to everybody, for an uncomfortable one where it has your name on it. That exposure is why it feels risky and also why it teaches so fast. When the failure cannot be shared out, you start paying real attention to the parts that might fail. Nobody learns to run anything from the back of the room.

Volunteer for one small piece this week where the outcome is clearly yours. A section of a group project, a drill at practice. Keep it small enough that you finish it.
