When the risk involves other people’s safety, slow down. Brave decisions consider who else gets hurt.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some daring is really a willingness to spend somebody else’s safety on your own story. Risks you take with your own body are yours to price however you like. Risks that put a passenger, a teammate or a younger kid in the path of harm belong in a different category, and nerve is the wrong test for them. The question stops being whether you are scared and becomes who pays if this goes wrong.

Before anything involving speed, water or height, ask out loud who gets hurt in the bad version. If that list includes someone who did not choose it, slow down.
