Sometimes the bravest move is walking away from a fight you could win.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Having the win within reach makes walking away harder, not easier, because leaving now looks like a choice you have to justify. Winning is not free either. There is a cost to the friendship, to the room, sometimes to you, and deciding the win is not worth its price is a judgement rather than a retreat. Not every fight on offer is yours to take.

The next time you can feel a small win coming, ask what it costs and what it changes. If both answers are thin, drop it and notice that nothing bad follows.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which argument could you win and still be better leaving?
