You can’t be brave on behalf of someone else forever. At some point, teach them to stand too.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Standing in front of somebody works, and it works so well that it can quietly keep them from building their own version. At some point the protecting starts replacing the learning. Moving from doing it for them to doing it beside them is harder than the original rescue, because it means watching somebody be uncomfortable when you could have stepped in. That discomfort is the part that teaches.

With whoever you keep speaking for, hand them the next small one. Tell them what you would say, stand close by, and then let them say it.
